Hey guys, how are you doing? Alright, try not to be too loud. Much like Trista, I'm also a club leader as well. So, first I'm gonna plug the Frisco Democratic Club. If you ever find yourself on the east side of Denton County, the Frisco Democratic Club, we have two events every month. We have a Breakfast Club and also a happy hour.
We have candidates who are showing up to run for office, just kind of like here. I bring a microphone and amplifier to our happy hour. So if you want to meet the candidates on your ballot in the east side uh area of Dent County, come out to the Frisco Democratic Club. Frisco Democrats.org is where you can find our information. Um I also want to plug another organization that I
support, Progressive Leaders Toastmasters. Progressive Leaders Toastmasters is a place where you can meet like-minded Democrats, kind of like here, but you can also listen to some pretty good speeches, or if you ever wanted to practice your public speaking, you can do so. It's a Toastmasters Club that's open to progressives. That's why we'll call it the Progressive Leaders Toastmasters. I think we actually have a couple Toastmasters here.
Yeah. A couple. So uh we meet every single Monday at 7 p.m., both in person and online. So if you just want to see what it's like, you can check us out on Zoom if you want uh before you come out to meet us in person. Uh it's actually uh every single Monday at 7 p.m.
at the landmark bar in Grill. Do you guys remember that area? I know the Flower Mount Club used to meet there, right? So that's where we started. Yeah, yeah. All right, now let me talk about myself. My name is Dale Frey, and I'm running for the
position of the Denton County Clerk, and now I probably need to explain to you what that is and why it matters. It matters because I'm not just going to be the clerk for the county, but also the county commissioners court. There's two major points of contention with that is 287G and county and voting centers. I probably need to talk about that and explain what
that is. Right now, we have countywide voting during uh the early voting period, but not on election day, the lasting to vote. That is due to our county commissioners. And I'm ready to basically be the clerk to document everything that they do and to make sure that everyone's aware of what our county commissioners are up to.
Because right now they're not giving us countywide voting on election day, the last day to vote, which is causing a lot of confusion and redirection. Another point of contention with the commissioner's court is 287G. This is a contract that deputizes local law enforcement as ICE officials. Our county, Denton County, was one of the first counties to go as far as we did into 287G, and
we're not even getting any of that money from the federal government for that, while other counties have negotiated to get some ICE funding. So that's a major point of contention and something that we need to document to make sure that people are aware of it because I see that a lot of people are aware of city councils existing. They know some people who may know who their mayor
is, but a lot of people don't know about the Denton County Commissioner's Court or that it exists. That's not very much a courtroom per se. It's really kind of more like a city council, if you will, at the county level. I know Stephanie's gonna come up here and talk next. She's actually ready to be on the county commissioner's court, but it would basically be my job to be Stephanie's
secretary and to also document everything that goes on in the county commissioner's court as well. I'm not sure how much time I have, real quick, but I'm also cool. Oh, there's plenty of time. Another thing, too, the job of a county clerk is a shotgun spectrum type of thing where you've got lots of different.
I'll put it this way, it's gonna sound completely out of nowhere. But the county clerk in Deton County specifically oversees the passport office. Here's why that matters. Our president is pushing for a bill called the SAVE Act. If the Save Act passes, it will make it so
that your driver's license is not good enough in order to register to vote. All right, it's stuck in the Senate right now, but Donald Trump is pushing real hard for that. And if he gets his way with the Save Act, you may actually need a passport in order to register to vote. The Denton County Clerk oversees the passport office here in
Denton County, particularly for new passport applications. And it's gonna be my personal mission to one, make sure that you have access to getting a passport because it seems like you're going to need it, right? And to also try to socialize the cost for a passport as well. To beg the county commissioner's court to give me the funding to socialize the cost for a passport because it
can cost you a minimum of $150, and you should not have to spend money in order to people to vote. It's a poll tax, which is supposed to be unconstitutional. So, as your county clerk, it will be my mission to socialize the cost for a passport so that you do not get hurt by the voter suppression. We already have voter suppression as bad as it is
right now with not having county wide voting on election day, and that'll be another thing that I advertise as well. Make sure that everyone is aware of what our county commissioners are up to. So again, I need three things from you. I need your time if you had it. Get involved, block walk if you can, make sure people
are aware that voting is coming up because I tell you, there's a lot of people who don't even know that auctions are happening. I know it sounds crazy to us, but it's true. Another is uh your money. If if you don't, if you don't have the time, please, you know, every dollar counts. It takes a lot of money to run for office,
guys. It costs just the filing fee alone can be a couple thousand dollars. And aside from that, your vote, I need your vote. We need to never tell yourself your vote doesn't matter. We don't live in a red state. We live in a non-voting state where only half of the population is registered to vote.
And of that, only half of them even show up to the voting booth. And by the way, that's on presidential elections. The lower the turnout, the more of a difference your vote makes. So never say your vote doesn't matter. Frame4Texas.com is f R E Y for Texas.com. Thank you for your time.
Next up is Stephanie Draper, who is running for County, Denton County Commission.
