A special thanks to our friend Amy Manuel for standing up for Voting Centers in Denton County back on September 1st 🗳️ She too ran for Denton County Clerk back in the day as well - this is a very serious issue when it comes to the Commissioners Court. Now to be fair, the Clerk doesn't have the same power that Commissioners and Judge has, but the Clerk does have the responsibility to make sure the people of Denton County knows what our Commissioners Court is up to, and what policies they are pressing onto the County. And as it stands now, we are switching up the rules on the last day to vote - which is confusing and stands as one more barrier between a voter and their ballot box.

Good morning. I've lived in Denton County since 1998 and Texas my entire life. I've been working elections here as a clerk, an alternate, and a judge since 2004, more than two decades. And one thing I can tell you, every general election, when we have something big on the ballot, especially in a midterm or presidential year, come the end of

the day, you have a line. And there's going to be a bunch of people in that line that because we do precinct voting are in the wrong location, and they will tell you, but this is where I voted last time. But it changes because we do this precincts voting. And what we do is then we disenfrench them by making them vote provisionally, which then slows down the closing

of the polls because those provisional votes take a long time. So we just need to do what most of the major counties in the state have done already, which is go to voting centers on election day as well. So we don't disenfranchise a bunch of people and we can close our polls much more quickly. That's all I have to say on the matter.

Thank you, Mayor.
