1
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:01,120
Hey, hi guys doing.

2
00:00:01,280 --> 00:00:03,120
My name is Dale Frey, and I'm running for the

3
00:00:03,120 --> 00:00:04,880
position of the Denton County Clerk.

4
00:00:04,880 --> 00:00:06,720
I'm gonna have to explain what that is now, of

5
00:00:06,720 --> 00:00:07,120
course.

6
00:00:07,120 --> 00:00:08,880
It's not just the clerk of the county, but
also

7
00:00:08,960 --> 00:00:12,080
the Denton County Commissioner's Court, and
here's why that matters

8
00:00:12,080 --> 00:00:12,720
so much.

9
00:00:12,720 --> 00:00:15,200
There are two major points of contention.

10
00:00:15,200 --> 00:00:18,160
One is the fact that Denton County has made
headlines

11
00:00:18,160 --> 00:00:20,080
in the news over the fact that we've opted
into

12
00:00:20,240 --> 00:00:25,440
the 287G contract, which deputizes local law
enforcement as

13
00:00:25,440 --> 00:00:26,720
ICE officials.

14
00:00:28,160 --> 00:00:31,120
The Denton County Commissioners Court oversees
our elections, and in

15
00:00:31,120 --> 00:00:33,600
Denton County we do not have county white
voting on

16
00:00:33,600 --> 00:00:36,320
election day, even though we do during the
early voting

17
00:00:36,320 --> 00:00:38,080
period, which is confusing the people.

18
00:00:38,080 --> 00:00:41,520
We are constantly seeing people getting
redirected on the last

19
00:00:41,520 --> 00:00:42,960
day to vote.

20
00:00:42,960 --> 00:00:45,520
This is straight up voter suppression, and
that's why the

21
00:00:45,520 --> 00:00:47,920
Denton County Commissioner's Court matters so
much.

22
00:00:47,920 --> 00:00:51,680
Speaking of voter suppression, another issue
that we have is

23
00:00:51,680 --> 00:00:53,840
that right now our Congress is trying to push
forward

24
00:00:53,840 --> 00:00:55,840
something called the SAVE Act.

25
00:00:56,160 --> 00:00:58,960
The Save Act is something that will make it so

26
00:00:58,960 --> 00:01:01,520
that your driver's license is not good enough
to get

27
00:01:01,520 --> 00:01:03,760
you to be registered to vote.

28
00:01:03,760 --> 00:01:06,320
You might actually need to get a passport in
order

29
00:01:06,320 --> 00:01:07,440
to register to vote.

30
00:01:08,240 --> 00:01:13,360
Now, as your county clerk who oversees our
passport offices

31
00:01:13,360 --> 00:01:16,240
here in Denton County, it will be my personal
mission

32
00:01:16,240 --> 00:01:18,560
to make sure that you have access to getting a

33
00:01:18,560 --> 00:01:22,080
passport and to beg your fellow county
commissioners to socialize

34
00:01:22,080 --> 00:01:24,640
the cost for obtaining a passport.

35
00:01:24,640 --> 00:01:30,000
Because I believe because

36
00:01:30,320 --> 00:01:32,960
unlike the orange man in charge in Washington,
I believe

37
00:01:32,960 --> 00:01:33,920
in our constitution.

38
00:01:33,920 --> 00:01:36,480
Our constitution says that we're supposed to
have free and

39
00:01:36,480 --> 00:01:37,520
fair elections.

40
00:01:37,520 --> 00:01:39,360
It should not cost you money in order to vote

41
00:01:39,360 --> 00:01:40,160
for our elections.

42
00:01:40,160 --> 00:01:41,280
My name is Dale Frey.

43
00:01:41,280 --> 00:01:42,720
I'm running to be your Denton County Clerk.

44
00:01:42,800 --> 00:01:44,080
If you want to learn more about me, come to

45
00:01:44,080 --> 00:01:45,680
Frey for Texas.com.

46
00:01:45,680 --> 00:01:48,160
That's F R E Y for Texas.com, and thank you

47
00:01:48,160 --> 00:01:49,520
for your time.
